Boguizanogu (Godknowswhere)

Boguizanogu (Godknowswhere)

The summer of 1980. The first summer after Tito’s death, and the last carefree one. Somewhere in Slovenia’s north-east region lies Boguizanogu (Godknowswhere), a semi-rural settlement cut off from the nearby town by a motorway built under a government decree.

A young boy and his gang of friends spend their summer holidays far from the watchful eyes of adults. They race around on motorbikes, smoke in secret, explore forbidden places, and experience feelings they don’t yet have the words to describe.

Across thirteen chapters, their adventures gradually reveal the story of a changing era, as the idea of Tito’s Yugoslavia begins to fade. The children don’t yet understand what is happening, but they can already feel it.

A witty and nostalgic story about a time that shaped us more than we realise.
